    About Foolish Monk

I am not a master. However, those who appreciate what I teach and wish to show their respect for the information I disclose call me ShiFu, which means 'teacher' I am 'The Foolish Monk'; simply a humble student of thousands of years of Daoist philosophy, contemplation and physical training. Together with some small modern scientific understanding of the human organism I have learned, Daoist training practices have provided me with a comprehensive methodology for staying fit and healthy, despite the health threats of modern life. What I share here on this website is what I have learned from my own patients, students, study, teachers and experimentation. IMPORTANT: The information presented here may be right or it may be wrong. I am always willing to see things objectively and improve what I do. So if you find something you disagree with, please help everyone interested in the benefits of internal training by restraining yourself from a knee-jerk reaction, formulating your argument logically, providing references to Daoist classics and/or medical science, making your own video demonstrating exactly where you think I'm going wrong and only then making valid constructive comments. THANK YOU. Where Does This Information Come From? I started my martial arts training at 8 years old with Judo. I didn't find what I wanted there. Where was the deep Eastern understanding of health promotion? Where was the protection against injuries and sickness? Where was the philosophical enlightenment? Nothing made sense. Judo had served me well for a few years but it was time to search for something else. I tried other arts including Karate, Taekwondo, Iaido and Aikido but still I felt something was missing. In 1993 I came across a KungFu system called Steelwire Mantis which seemed to answer my questions and so I began my training with ShiFu Leung YanKwai. Over the years, through close associations with ShaoLin Temple and Chen's Village to name but two, Steelwire Mantis gradually evolved into a system of Daoist health practices called XingQi DaoYinShu (today known as TaiJiQuan and QiGong) In 2008 my teacher Dr YK Leung PhD, by then an indoor 31st generation ShaoLin SuJiaDiZhi Monk, Indoor Chen's JiaGou and PhD in Ancient Chinese Healing Energy research, officially named me as 32nd Generation ShaoLin SuJiaDiZhi (Layman) Monk Shi XingLik amongst 10 others. The other layman monks (in no particular order) are: XingYi, XingLun, XingLin, XingHu, XingJin, XingGoh, XingYin, XingFa, XingWei, XingBo. The same year I was also awarded the title 'Daoist Medicine Practitioner' by Dr Leung. In 2010 I opened Temple Holistic Centre where I helped hundreds of people eliminate their back pain and resolve other medical problems. I taught TaiJiQuan, QiGong, Spontaneous QiGong Healing, Kettlebell Training and Daoist Bodyweight Exercises to Leeds residents keen to learn how to take control of their health. At Temple Holistic I also hosted regular seminars and workshops on natural health topics. In 2016 I found my amazing life partner in Slovakia and, at 47 years of age and wanting to waste no time to be with her, I offered my Temple Holistic Centre to my students to run for themselves as they wished, with ongoing support from myself and the SuJiaDiZhi ShaoLin Monks. My students all had other commitments, so I closed Temple Holistic and followed my destiny to the beautiful mountainous country of Slovakia where I now train, teach classes and hold regular seminars and workshops.
