Could TaiChi be The Future of Medicine?
TaiChi has so far been subject to more than 800 clinical studies and is shown to have multiple health effects. TaiChi works simultaneously on different components which make up our bodies and minds, including:
- Physical Activity
- Aerobic Exercise
- Musculoskeletal Activity
- Breathing Control
- Nervous System
- Proprioceptive System
- Meditation
- Relaxation
- Stress Management
- Metabolic Rate
- Myofascial Release
- Endocrine System
- Internal Organ Massage
Research carried out by Harvard Medical School shows that in terms of metabolic effort, the average TaiChi session is the equivalent of a brisk walk. However, in terms of health rewards, TaiChi appears to be incomparable.
